We recruit staff for their personality and the company has a ‘fun’ atmosphere throughout. Champion Sports is a very sales and customer focused environment and this is driven by our employees.

The Recruitment Process
The interview process will vary depending on the level of job you are applying for. All sales team players candidates will meet with a member of the HR Department. The format is quite informal and usually takes place in a city centre store.
Retail Management roles have a two-tier process. The initial interview is a competency-based interview carried out by the Head of HR. Successful candidates will move to the next stage, which is conducted by an Operations Manager. A detailed floor walk forms the basis of this interview.
Head office roles follow a competency-based interview with the Head of HR. A meeting with the relevant department head then follows this. At this stage a brief is given and a presentation is required.

BUYING:
The Buying Department are responsible for the purchase of all stock in stores. Our Buyers look at trends, history and location when deciding on what will sell in each individual store. Our Buying team work very closely with our merchandising and marketing departments to ensure product reaches its maximum potential, improving company profitability.
LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT:
At Champion Sports we consider our staff to be our best asset. We therefore feel it is vital to invest in our people and help develop and progress their careers. Our training department have a structured training and induction plan in place, which all new employees receive on starting with the company.
Our training department develop a succession plan for current employees who show potential and want to further their career with Champion.
OPERATIONS:
Our Operations Team drive our staff to achieve all KPI’s set by the company. This is done through coaching and feedback and regular store visits. The Operations team work closely with the HR Department to performance manage our people ensuring they reach their full potential. Operations ensure that our stores look impeccable and are constantly striving to improve our business. Our visual merchandising department falls under this umbrella.
THE WEB TEAM:
The web department is responsible for running the E-Commerce Web Store at www.champion.ie.
The in house team looks after the technical development, merchandising, maintenance and daily operations and order fulfilment. The department also works closely with the Marketing team in relation to online marketing & social media campaigns.
OUR MARKETING DEPARTMENT:
The Marketing Department is responsible for organisational marketing strategy, advertising, promotions, customer relationship management, branding, public relations and corporate social responsibility. The main functions of the Marketing Department within Champion are the development of marketing goals and strategy, creation of quarterly advertising campaigns, production of POS material, management of social media and online marketing and generating awareness of the Champion brand through effective public relations.
HR:
The Human Resource Department deals with management of people within the organisation. There are a number of responsibilities that come with this title. First of all, the Department is responsible for hiring members of staff; this will involve attracting employees, keeping them in their positions and ensuring that they perform to expectations. It is responsible for all administration relating to the staff in the Company.
The Human Resource Department’s main objective is to bring out the best in their employees and thus contribute to the success of the Company.
